Window furnishings frame the inside of your home to the outside …

Window furnishings are major frames to your room and the outline and opening to your picture window to your outdoors ...

Inside your room they can create and accent the architectural beauty of your room.

To give a room height, majesty and impact, make sure to hang your curtains or blinds just under the ceiling cornice – about half a hand’s length (depending on the height of your room, of course). As you develop your eye, you will be able to tell what looks right.

Most people make the mistake of hanging blinds or curtains just above the window and this just shrinks the room.

Also, be generous and lavish with the size of your blinds or curtains. Ensure that there is enough length and width. You may be tempted to just have their size exactly line-up with the outer edge of the window frame, to ensure you show as much wall space, or whatever.

From a practical viewpoint, however, you will most likely find that when the extremes of weather hit – too much heat and sun sneaking in around the edges in summer, or too much heat sneaking out and cold sneaking in during winter.

By then, the blinds or curtains are already chosen, or the fabric sizes are cut and sewn - and sadly it's too late. You want to be sure that you have a good balance between ‘look’ & functionality. If you do, you’ll never look back …
