Home Office Feng Shui Decorating Tips

Position of your desk - best in the room’s corner furthest away from the doorway so that you’re looking diagonally onto the doorway - so that you face incoming energy, but you’re not directly facing the door head-on (incoming energy will be too forceful and powerful).

• Position your desk so that you sit with a solid wall behind you – for strength and support.

• Avoid sitting with windows behind you (you will lack support and it leaves you open to attack of negative energy). Do not sit with your back to the door.

• Hang a painting or print of a mountain scene on the wall behind you (for solid strong support backing you). Or position a solid cabinet there.

• Bookcases should be positioned against walls that aren’t directly behind your desk.

• Plants are one of the most effective Feng Shui energizers (‘wood’ element for growth). Place them in the east, south-east or south corners of your office for best effect. Artificial plants are as effective as live plants, but dried plants are a definite NO-NO.

• Your Desk – leave the area directly in front of you empty of files, books and so on. Create the equivalent of a ‘bright hall’ where good chi can accumulate. (Piles of files should be higher to your left than to your right)

• Computer equipment is best positioned to the west to strengthen your ability to cope under pressure. A lamp in the south for good reputation and luck. Flowers in the east to attract good income luck. Crystal paperweight in south-west to create good relationships

• Earth energy brings excellent Feng Shui to your business – activate the south-west (the strongest), center and north east corners of your room or premises. You can place crystal clusters or large ceramic or pottery urns. To activate your wood energy corners – the east and south-east – use mother of pearl items to increase your turnover.

• Lighting - avoid too bright lights overhead (to avoid health problems). Replace light bulbs immediately when they expire.

• If you have a north or west oriented office or a window facing that way – block out excessive sunlight with blinds or curtains, otherwise yang energy will lead to disagreement or short tempers.

• Entry Hallway or Foyer -

With good strong front door opening inwards.

Business card – avoid designs that are too abstract, sharp pointed or angular shapes.
