Feng Shui Color Decorating

2. Color Decorating –

• Bring the colors and textures of nature into your home. Use colors according to their energetic qualities. For example –

• A pale translucent blue can give an almost ethereal feeling of lightness.

Green is balanced and calm.

• Deep warm purple is dignified and mystical.

• A subtle, tasteful, understated monotone effect can be achieved using tones of off-whites and creams, or pale variations of pastel colors (this is a particularly suitable and satisfying color scheme for a person who leads a busy life as it creates a space that is clear, pristine and peaceful).

• Avoid excessive use of one color, material or shape. Too many ‘wood’ qualities in a room can agitate the liver and gall bladder resulting in arguments, frustration and anger. ‘Wood’ colors such as green, blue and grey can be harmonized with ‘fire’ tones of red, orange and purple. A red rug could temper the ‘wood’ impact of a timber floor.

Bedrooms – decorate with dark ‘yin’ colors rather than light ‘yang’ colors to promote restful sleep.

Front door - Make a grand statement with color to the entry to your home according to the element of the direction it faces, and see good fortune increase:

o Blue for north, east or south-east

o Green for east, south-east or south

o Red for south, south-west or north-east

o White for west, north-west or north
