Christmas Decorating
Decorating your home for Christmas, or any other special holiday occasion, is an exciting part of getting into the groove of the holiday season you're about to celebrate with your Family and Friends. Kick back, be creative, let your imagination run wild, and have some major holiday fun! …
You can do many simple things to decorate your home to create that wonderful festive atmosphere to get Family and Friends into that fun holiday mood.
We’re talking about seasonal trimmings, so they’re temporary and easy to fix and remove.
• Cushions, pillows, throw rugs, wall hangings – make a quick change to get your home into the holiday festive mood. Choose wonderful colors of the season in rich red, luscious green, and abundant gold. Fabrics in velvet, chenille, or whatever you love.
• Color – you can’t go wrong with the traditional trio of red, green and gold - it's the obvious choice of the season and works with a northern hemisphere, as well as southern hemisphere Christmas.
But, you don’t have to be totally conventional – you can do something different and unconventional - consider the colors you have in your home and try a color palette to accent the holiday occasion. Either pastel tones of traditional colors in mix and match. Or you can go with either summer or winter variations of the season that complement your home’s color and décor – all warm tones, or all wintry shades.
• On your Mantelpiece – string a line of Christmas decorative pieces on your mantelpiece ledge – doesn’t have to be reserved only for the Christmas tree.
• Candles – in red and green for the season – really warm a place with a cozy glow.
• Make a special feature of family photos – rearrange and bring out and add extra photos of grandparents and other relatives – to highlight the family tradition of the season. Add little Christmas accents to the photo frames.
• On the dining table – bowls of water with candles in the middle, or floating candles.
Try a table runner with 2 pieces of fabric, one smaller than the other, in contrasting holiday colors of red and green, and sitting on top of each other
Dress with matching table napkins and decorative bowls of flowers, fruit, pebbles, colored gemstones to match the season.
** An absolutely fabulous tip, no matter what occasion or whatever season or reason for having an around dinner table get together is - and here it is - either use a small mirror or indeed a table width mirror as your base backdrop for your table trimmings. All the reflections - the candles, the flowers, any other ornaments, will just glow in their glorious reflections.
